have a strong dislike for people who are disrespectful. If I happen not to be your type, that's perfectly fine; there's no need to respond in a rude manner to communicate that. Everyone has their preferences, and I believe it's possible to express them with kindness and consideration. Being polite goes a long way in maintaining respect, even when there's a lack of romantic interest.
